There are many common and not-so-common misconceptions about detoxing and there are a lot of people with uninformed opinions who will try and tell you that “detoxing is a fad”, “better to fast instead”, or the other perennial favorite “use some laxatives, that’ll flush out your system”. Unfortunately, this type of extreme “advice” is at best useless and wrong, and at worst it can be outright dangerous.
Not only doesn’t fasting do anything to shift toxins from your body, it can place your body in “starvation mode” which can result in damage to your organs if done long enough, and the misuse of laxatives can actually deprive you of important nutrients and can cause severe dehydration.
